On Wednesday, June 22, I went to this thing that I thought was a film premiere, but ended up being a hot box? Or something like that. I still can't remember what's it's called. Point is, I had just started therapy, was having a terrible time so far (don't worry, it's better now). Mostly because all of my therapists had vv annoying voices and their offices were ugly. But that's a whole other thing. Anyway, at this hot box thing, I met this woman who was playing the role of THERAPIST, and her voice was (and still is) EVERYTHING. For this character, of course, her voice was soothing and nurturing and assuring and everything you want from a therapist. So I told her. That I needed her to be my therapist.
This led to a lovely friendship that I ain't finna tell you all the details of BECAUSE I AM A VERY PRIVATE PERSON (Not true. I'm not private at all. I just have a lot of work to get done, and I don't have time to write all the things I want to. Oooook?!? Sheesh, get off my back.)
Ok, last detail about this woman: On Wednesday, August 3rd we had a morning coffee date planned. It worked out that I had an audition that day for a VO spot. This woman, whose voice has never not been on tv in the last 15 years, took the time to coach ME. 'Lil 'ole me. For 2 hours. At one point, just as I would probably do in therapy, I broke down and decided acting isn't for me and I should just move back home and help my mom run her food truck (which is actually also awesome, btw, because my mom's food truck - Mel's Food Truck - is wonderful! And I love my mom and all that jazz.)
Well, I don't know if it was her or the NAKED yoga or some combination of everything, but I booked the spot she helped me prepare for that morning. And even if I hadn't booked it, I'd be so so grateful for everything Nicole Fazio taught me and is continuing to teach me. There are really kind, lovely, hard-working, generous, convicted people in Hollywood. And I'm so lucky I get to know some of them and call them my friends. Faz, you're a blessing. Thank you for being who you are. Hollywood is so lucky to have you. I am so lucky to have you. Google Duo's Toothbrush is lucky to have you.
(Also I wrote all that nice stuff about Fazio, not just because I know she'll know the most *GRACEFUL* way to accept my gratitude and why not tell the world how amazing she is? But also because I want to brag about myself, but I am not nearly as graceful as her YET, so I have do to this super elaborate thing to ask you to PLEASE WATCH THIS ADORABLE COMMERCIAL I WAS IN!?)
Just wondering if your going to be at the library again. I really enjoyed your teachings and I discovered that I'm a lot better than I thought I was, and I can really do interesting things with my voice. Plus you really brightened my day and made me feel pretty great about myself, so thank you! Thats all, and have a wonderful day.
Thanks for helping us yesterday, you sounded great.
